Systemic and selective herbicide for rice fields

This compound is first absorbed through the germinating seedling coleoptile and roots, and then translocated to other plant tissues. It accumulates more in vegetative tissues than reproductive tissues. Its mode of action involves inhibition of protein synthesis and prevention of cell division and synthesis of very-long-chain fatty acids.

Butachlor is used for the control of annual narrow-leaf (grass) weeds and some broad-leaf weeds in rice fields, especially Echinochloa crus-galli (barnyard grass).
It is applied 4–7 days after transplanting at 3–4 L/ha, before the two-leaf stage of barnyard grass (the weed must remain under the water surface).
In direct-seeded rice, it is used pre-emergence.

In addition to rice, Butachlor is selective on barley, cotton, peanut, sugar beet, and some cabbage cultivars, and can be applied at 1–4.5 L active ingredient per hectare.

Compatibility, Mixing, and General Precautions

  • Non-phytotoxic on rice, cotton, barley, wheat, peanut, sugar beet, and some cabbage varieties.

  • Effectiveness depends on available water—apply after rainfall or irrigation, and block field water inlet and outlet for 2–3 days after spraying.

  • Butachlor must be used only based on plant protection specialist recommendation and strictly for the listed crops and weeds.

  • Not recommended for crops or weed species other than those specified.
