Outbreak of pest Monosferial Hiearnata (Tingidae,Hemiptera ( in jujube orchard with warming air
In a conversation with a reporter of Young Journalists Club of Birjand; Razavi, director of Khusf Agricultural Jihad said: "This pest has damaged some jujube orchards in Khusf city in South Khorasan due to overheating in late August this year 2020 and also created many problems and threats for jujube agricultural products, considering that spraying is not recommended in the harvest season, and the exact time of pesticide consumption is when the buds swell, so it is recommended that after harvesting gardeners should use systemic pesticides and also EC oils for winter season .
Ghous, head of herbal production at the Khusf Agricultural Jihad Management,: "If we couldn’t control this pest enough, it will damage trees and reduce production and the economic value of the crop."
Mr. Modi: This pest with feeding on leaves of the jujube trees , causes damages on the early leaves of the plant in the spring and then make them wake up later.
The Director of the Department of Plant Protection and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Birjand University, said: "Unfortunately, the irregular using and spraying huge rate of pesticides for controlling the jujube fly pest on the tree has caused spreading new pest Monosferial Hiearnata as a secondary pest."
Mr. Modi added: The Faculty of Agriculture of Birjand University has now started a research project on jujube pest biology, and this method will help to control this pest.
Ghous,:Jujube new pest had appeared due to such cases like weakening of the trees, the presence of contamination centers in the orchard, and the lack of enough attention by the gardeners.
The head of plant production of Khusf Agricultural Jihad Management continued: "These pests have three generations per year according to the climatic conditions, which start working on new sprouts from March 6 to April 6 due to the heat and cold on their activity regions."
He added: "One of the main symptoms of this pest is falling leaves of trees, and also it has influenced on quality & size of fruits.
Monosferial Hiearnata pest is a very small insect with a length of 1-2 millimeters, light brown in color, and is one of the sucking pests that feed on the leaves and create tiny yellow spots on them .
