Fenix Indoor – Universal Substrate
Greenhouse Cultivation Substrate

Greenhouse cultivation can significantly improve both the quality and quantity of crops. However, achieving 4- to 6-fold higher yields in greenhouse environments compared to open-field cultivation requires specific conditions, such as fertile soil and the use of suitable organic and mineral fertilizers.

Greenhouse crops have higher nutrient demands, so using high-quality, fertile soil with appropriate physical and chemical properties is essential for successful greenhouse agriculture. In addition, applying organic and mineral fertilizers at suitable rates during growth stages is necessary.

Nowadays, using greenhouses as controlled environments for crop production has become inevitable. To obtain high-quality and high-yield crops in greenhouses, it is necessary to annually sterilize the soil to restore optimal conditions. Sterilization is typically done using steam and chemical agents.

However, not all farmers, especially amateurs, have the means or ability to perform annual sterilization. In such cases, annual soil replacement can still produce crops with acceptable quality and yield.

Greenhouse soil is typically composed of a mixture of turf soil, peat, and various chemical, mineral, and organic fertilizers. Among these components, peat has unique properties that cannot be replaced by other materials. The most important feature of peat is its high water and nutrient retention capacity, which enhances nutrient and water uptake by plants.

For this reason, using peat at various levels (surface, intermediate, or deep) in greenhouse soil is essential for producing high-quality crops. The proportion of peat in greenhouse substrates can range from 50% to 100% depending on the crop and cultivation method.
