Propiconazole inhibits the demethylase enzyme, thereby blocking ergosterol biosynthesis in fungi. This inhibition prevents the formation of fungal cell membranes, leading to cessation of fungal growth.

Mode of Action:

Propiconazole inhibits the demethylase enzyme, thereby blocking ergosterol biosynthesis in fungi. This inhibition prevents the formation of fungal cell membranes, leading to cessation of fungal growth.

It exhibits systemic movement within the plant — translocating upward (acropetal) through the xylem from roots to leaves and vice versa.

Application Management:

  • Systemic fungicide with both protective and curative properties.
  • Recommended for preventive application or at the early stages of infection for best efficacy.
